BE YOUR OWN BFF THIS WEEK

Have you ever listened REALLY closely to how you speak to yourself?  What do you say to yourself when you look in the mirror?  When you try on new clothes at the store?  When you’re having an uncomfortable conversation?  When you make eye contact with someone?

How do YOU speak to yourself? Are you supportive and caring? Or critical and judgmental? Chances are, if you’re like most people, you’re far harsher on yourself than you are on anyone else in your life – and this week we’re going to work on that.

We set incredibly high expectations, and then scold ourselves when we fail to meet them.  When you say things over and over to yourself- they start to become a self-fulfilling prophecy….. so it’s incredibly important to pay attention to how you’re speaking to yourself!

Here are two things I’d love you to try out this week

  1.  Positive Affirmations. Turn those negative words around and instead recite positive statements. “I always wait until the last minute to get stuff done. Why am I so lazy!?” turns into: “I am incredibly capable and smart. Look how quickly I can get tasks done when I put my mind to it.”
  2. Stop comparing yourself to other people or past versions of yourself. I can’t emphasize this one enough! First, you don’t know what is really happening “behind the scenes” in other people’s lives….. and second, it’s irrelevant, because what matters is YOU and your life!  There’s only one YOU!

Your challenge this week is to pay close attention to how you’re speaking to yourself – instead of criticizing yourself… LOVE and support yourself!
